GuildMestar Update 0.2.1.0 - Release QoL

Hello GuildMestars,

Not too long ago GuildMestar had its first major release, and now to accompany it is version 0.2.1.0 it's companion quality of life update. Below as always you will find the patch notes but here are a few highlights:

Fonts across the board have been generally increased as well as the removal of a oft disliked cursive font. Almost every instance of text has been increased to aid with eligibility and certain headers have had new styling applied to better differentiate themselves against other text.

Dialogue audio has been reworked. Now no longer is the same sound repeated over and over while text is displaying, instead based on the letter shone a different sound will be played. Currently this new system offers the ability to make custom sound profiles per speaker however at this time only Phern uses a unique profile. Should this system be well received I plan on expanding this to add some additional character to popular speakers, and if this system isn't your cup of tea in the slightest, a new option slider specifically for Dialogue Audio has been added.

Cleaner combat UI. Previously in v0.2.0.0 the combat streak (now momentum) system was added. The purpose of this new system was to both speed up and add some additional complexity to combat overall. It however had the added drawback of creating a lot of clutter on the screen and I was dissatisfied with this. Now in v0.2.1.0 much of the clutter has been reduced and the information is better presented while not losing the original idea of the momentum display.

All of these changes are present in both the full and demo versions so feel if you are still on the fence about the game, give the demo a shot!

All in all I hope you enjoy these changes and look forward the to future of GuildMestar. If you have any feedback you'd like to give feel free to drop by the discord, leave a comment on this post or the Steam forums, or leave a review if you've already purchased the game.

Signed,

Version: 0.2.1.0

- Major -

  • Removed BitmGothic Font (fancy cursive font) and increased nearly (if not) every instance of text in the game, eye users rejoice
  • Added new context sensitive cursor variants for hovering / moving dragable objects
  • Reworked dialogue sounds to use a modular system rather than a single repeating sound. The new system should be more pleasant on the ears and offer a variety of audio experiences
  • Added a Dialogue Volume slider to the options
  • Shops can now offer items on sale. These items receive an extra discount but can not be traded back to that shop again that day
  • Cleaned up combat display. Should be less going on and easier on the eyes
  • Items no longer spawn conflicting mechanics (such as +1 speed to target and -1 speed to target). If this would happen now the effects are instead combined

- Minor -

  • Enabled hover effects for adventurers (could have swore they already were but when testing the new cursors I noticed they weren't)
  • The introduction scene now uses the dialogue speed setting similar to quest scene dialog and the auto progression timer has been increased to allow more reading time
  • Added additional dialogue to the introduction quest about accessing the quest log for help on what to do next and added a line explaining the momentum system
  • Renamed the combat "Streak" mechanic to "Momentum"
  • Adjusted character's trade opinion to make them a bit more forgiving at their initial opinion value
  • Depreciated the "Haste" and "Slow" mechanics. These are now combined under a new single mechanic but for the player they should see no difference.
  • Adjusted item display duration during combat due to no longer displaying individual stat icons
  • Removed characters walking to center point during combat
  • Added reload effect for when the discard pile is shuffled back into the deck
  • Nerfed the attack value of "Bite" at its first two levels (4 -> 3, 5 -> 4)
  • Added a handful of new item affixes

- Bugs -

  •  Characters returning from dungeons now properly discard lingering applied mechanics
