GuildMestar Developer Insights - August 16, 2022

Hello GuildMestars,

Today I'd like to talk about some things that make me angry, specifically one thing. Items. These procedurally generated little turds are a main stay in many games including GuildMestar. They add flavor and excitement on finding something particularly rare or that one perfect combination and yet they are so fleeting.

Currently adventurers are able to bring as many items as they have slots into any exploration but as soon as they return their pockets are mysteriously empty. This original implementation was put into place as a facilitator for trade, forcing you the player to re-outfit your adventurers for each new expedition. This serves the purpose of keeping haggling relevant and money moving between multiple parties, but doesn't really make sense. I mean where do the items go? Are they really so fragile as to break after just one use?

At first this seems like a fine idea, as one of the major sources of inspiration for this game (a board game called Bargain Quest) does the same thing. Once your chosen adventurer completes their little excursion every item attached to them is discarded thus requiring you to sell them more equipment next round. In theory this works but in a digital trade simulator the question too often raised is what happened and where are my items? It ends up feeling more like a bug than an intentional game mechanic, so we've crafted a solution.

Coming in our next update this issue will be addressed to its very core and a more durable construction should forge ahead. Cutting edge materials will separate the scrap from the salvage leaving only those able to display fresh perspective.
